Your reading list

There are so many things we can’t do right now, social isolation is tough (particularly for extraverts). But if we focus on what we can’t do, we let that cloud our mindset and alter our outlook. It prevents us from realising all the things we still can do.

After all, isn’t “I don’t have time” the biggest complaint in the modern world?! Well, consider that excuse now null and void. We have all been given the gift of time. The most previous gift we could ever receive really. So how will you spend yours?

Listening to beautiful music, getting your hands dirty in the garden, playing with animals, cooking up a storm, playing cards & board games, learning how to meditate, expressing yourself creatively; writing, drawing, colouring, painting. Learning a language or a musical instrument.

AND of course, reading!

You all know I’m a big book nerd, a proud #selfhelpjunkie if you will. I have put to together some of the most powerful life-changing books that I have come across, so that you can spend this down-time reconnecting within and expanding your mind.

MY TOP LIFE CHANGING BOOKS:

  1. Man’s Search For Meaning – Victor Frankl

  2. Strength Finder – Tom Rath

  3. Living Beautifully With Uncertainty And Change – Pema Chödrön

  4. The Power Of Now – Eckhart Tolle

  5. Women Who Run With The Wolves – Clarissa Pinkola Estés

  6. The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari – Robin Sharma

  7. The Alchemist – Paulo Coelho

  8. Rise Sister Rise – Rebecca Campbell

  9. Big Magic – Elizabeth Gilbert

  10. Daring Greatly – Brené Brown

  11. Dear Lover – David Deida

  12. Eastern Body Western Mind – Anodea Judith

  13. Lean In – Sheryl Sandberg

What have been some of the most powerful books you’ve read? It could have been poetry, a novel, a text book – anything that has moved you, or changed you.

I would love to hear so I can add to my own reading stock pile!

“Julia led a Workshop with my Year 10 students – each with such different aspirations, current achievements and many with little idea of what they want to do in life. Careers and subject choices for VCE are our focus, so it was perfect timing to have Julia come in and show them that truly anything is possible. The students stepped into possibility, created a clear Vision for their best life, and learnt how to set goals to make it happen. As their teacher it was a joy to see them listening, creating and genuinely being excited about where they can go.”

“Jules has the ability to listen like you wish your mother would. She lets ideas flow organically and ultimately leaves you wanting to tell her things you may not have otherwise told yourself. Identifying what lights people up is what Jules lives for, it is infectious and she will change the world by doing what she loves, and hopefully allow you to see you can do the same.”
