the power of a vision

I had a moment today that filled me with so much awe.

My Vision had actually come to LIFE!

I literally was experiencing, in real time, what I had dreamt up over 6 years earlier in my mind. . .

The very first time I sat down to craft my life vision, I saw myself sitting with a client (I had no idea what “work” I was doing yet, I just knew it was with people, it was totally fulfilling and that I worked for myself) and my rescue dog at an ocean side cafe. The sun was kissing my skin and I could smell the salty ocean air. I felt a huge sense of community around me, this was my local haunt and I knew people by name. I felt inspired and passionate about the work I was doing. And I LOVED the flexibility, the freedom, and the pure joy that came from being my own boss and being in charge of how I spend my days.

This vision has inspired me for so many years, and it’s crazy to think that that very description, that exact moment, that place, that feeling, those people – it actually happened!

Something I literally dreamt up all those years ago, has actually manifested itself into my present reality.

It’s utterly amazing to me, but really no surprise – because visioning works.

So it got me inspired to share with you the power of crafting a vision for your life. Because what you think about does manifest.

Do you know what you want for yourself? For your life? Like really know, with crystal clear clarity, without a shadow of a doubt, feel-it-in-your-bones kind of knowing?

Because without that clarity, the universe has nothing to work with.

If you don’t know where you are going, you may wind up someplace else.

– Yogi Berra

And even if you DO know what you want, that’s not always enough (sorry!). Because dreaming big and leaping into possibility often then brings up a whole onslaught of other things to deal with. Things like fear, limiting beliefs and self-sabotaging behaviour to name a few.

The little (yet very loud) voice in your head has a field day; “Am I good enough to have that? Will I ever be able to achieve that? Who am I to dream so big? That’s ridiculous, I’ll never have that. Good things never happen to ME.” Blah Blah Blah! The list is literally endless, as fear loves to play to every little insecurity you’ve ever had about yourself.

The key is to focus on what you WANT, and not on what you DON’T WANT to happen.

Fear, worry, limiting beliefs and negative self talk will never bring your vision to life. Only clarity, faith, trust and focused action will. So ask yourself, are you putting your energy into what you WANT, or into what you DON’T WANT?

Your Vision is sacred.
It is the most important tool when it comes to living a life you flat out LOVE.
It defines where you are going, and what it will look like when you get there.
Your Vision is the overarching blue print for your life.

Now, I’m a huge fan of setting goals for yourself – but know this: the goals themselves are purely just a vehicle to get you INTO your bigger Vision. The Vision is the pivotal piece. Without it, everything else falls apart (or at best feels pretty unfulfilling).

Because it’s your VISION that inspires you, that gives you direction, pulls you forwards, that gives you the energy to achieve your goals, and quite frankly – is the whole friggin point of this personal development work!

It captures in detail all aspects of your future life; your lifestyle, your relationships, your health, your feelings, your career, your family life, your spirituality – everything! It provides a snapshot for all you have become and all you have achieved.

Your Vision covers both:

  1. WHAT your doing, and
  2. WHO you’re being.

Your Vision is emotive. It should give you the chills when you read it. Make your hairs stand on end, and your heart glow with warmth. A smile can’t help but creep across your face, and (in my case) it brings tears to your eyes. You just think “Oh my god, if that was my life it would be utterly INCREDIBLE!” That’s the kind of effect you want your Vision to have on you. You want to feel completely connected, in sync, and inspired by it.

And if you’re still wondering how important it is to have a vision – ponder this for a moment:

If you aren’t working towards your own vision and goals, someone else is paying you to achieve theirs.

If that doesn’t scare you into action, I don’t know what will. This saying has always given me chills, and still resonates so strongly with me today. For those of you who have worked with me, or attended one of my workshops – you would have heard me say this many times!

One of my favourite things to do is to guide you through the process of crafting and writing an incredibly inspiring, super personal vision for all areas of your life. I then set you up for living into that life with strategy, planning, bold action and meaningful results.

Designing your life is both an art and a science.

It’s a powerful thing when you take the helm and steer your own ship.

No longer are you letting life happen to you,
you are actively creating it.
Life designed by you, for you.
