A beautiful baby humpback was pulled out of the ba

A beautiful baby humpback was pulled out of the bay yesterday. It had died, and sharks were feeding off it near the mussel farm in Mount Martha. I’ve never seen a whale in the bay before, and it’s such a powerful reminder of all the amazing creatures that grace our oceans. There’s so much magic that lies beneath the surface that we never see.

I’ve recently taken up swimming with the “icebergers” at the local life saving club and it’s been so great having other people to swim with (and much safer might I add). People that love the ocean and want to be immersed in salty goodness like me. No concrete, chlorine, or black lines to follow, just sand ripples, fish, rays and waves.

For me ocean swimming is a dose of awe that only nature can provide. It’s biophilia in action. Coming across a squid, or a baby banjo shark or rays makes my day. The whole process is meditative, because everything is silent bar the sound of my own breath. Thoughts, worries, emails and to-do lists drift away. The cold water acts like a reset button for the nervous system too, so I always feel alive after a swim!

It’s good for my mind, soul & body and always sets me up for a great day ahead.

Since going back to Uni I have spent so much time

Since going back to Uni I have spent so much time in my head & have really felt the disconnection from my body. I haven’t been feeling as grounded - I’ve felt highly stressed, anxious & my mind has been running a million miles an hour.

This short break between trimesters my intention has been to shut down the laptop, get out into nature, change my scenery and to reignite that sense of wonder & awe that I had lost of late.

This morning’s adventure was into the Arthur’s Seat state park walking part of the Two Bays trail to Kings Falls.

It was magic! Breathing in the scent of ocean air & eucalyptus, being followed by butterflies, coming across numerous mobs of kangaroos that were happy to let me stay and hang out for a while. Hearing the birds waking up and the crunch of leaves and gravel beneath my feet.

That was exactly what I needed, and to top it off I jumped in the bay for a post-hike dip 🙌🏼🌊.

We can’t always start the day with a 2-hour nature adventure, but boy when that opportunity arises I will sure take it!

After so many cancelled plans, escapes & trips last year we *finally* made it away for a well deserved mini getaway after lockdown 3.0! 🙌🏼 🌊🌿

A stunning house in the quietest little hamlet overlooking the ocean & tucked into the bush hillside.

With nowhere to be, nothing to do, just relax, be in nature & be with one another.

Waking up to the sound of the ocean & stunning sunrises was exactly what I needed after two weeks of Psychology exams.

I saw stingrays, dolphins, seals, crimson rosellas, eagles, kookaburras, herons, cormorants, lizards, rabbits & even a lyrebird on my bush walk this morning!

Such a well needed change of scenery after nearly a whole year. Never will I take for granted the freedom of being able to jump in the car and go anywhere I please.

Any excuse for more LOVE in the world is a good thing. Remember, wether you’re in a romantic relationship or not - the most important relationship you will ever have is the one with yourself.

The things you think, feel & say about yourself are a direct reflection of your self worth and self esteem. Make sure that they are kind, patient, respectful & loving. Because the moment you look for love or acceptance outside of yourself is the moment you give away your power.

The more you love yourself, the greater your capacity to love others & everything and everybody in this world.

It all starts within YOU.

So here’s to a whole lota self love today & always!

I used to ride to work every day. Then my bike got stolen. Then I moved out of the city. That was over 6 years ago, and I never got around to replacing it.

I have *finally* hopped back on the bike! I got myself a new set of wheels and she’s a beauty.

Isn’t it funny how sometimes you don’t realise how much you miss something until you do it again?

Feeling the wind in my hair, breathing in the fresh air, it’s fun & it makes me feel so free.

I did 13kms with my brother in law & niece this afternoon around the bay - what a cracker day for it! Finally saw some sunshine and the water sparkled the whole way 🌊🤩.

With the long-enduring lockdowns last year, the number one thing I heard my clients say is that they whole-heartedly *loved* the slower pace of life that lockdown offered.

There was no rushing, no fomo, no exhaustive burnout. Just a sweet, slow, existence that felt easy & nurturing to the soul.

They wanted to maintain this more conscious, mindful, smell-the-roses type of lifestyle.

And yet, the moment lockdowns lifted they fell right back into their old habitual ways of being. 😩And that’s *so* frustrating to be back in a place you told yourself you’d never be again.

The solution?

BOUNDARY SETTING.

You can’t expect change in your life when you refuse to say no to the things clogging up your time, energy & resources.

“No” is the most powerful sentence you’ll ever say. No further explanation is required (even though it will be tempting to provide multiple reasons!). It may feel uncomfortable at first, but with practice it becomes easier.

Honour yourself.
Honour those boundaries.
And you’ll soon reap the benefits.

My number one value is F R E E D O M & I feel this season is abundant with it, which is why it’s my favourite time of the year. Good weather & longer days mean I can do what I like, when I like, and there’s a power & openness in that that excites me.

I’m SO grateful summer has decided to arrive (better late than never melbs 😉). Snorkelling, sailing, paddle boarding, ocean swimming - all my fav activities happen during this season. The things that make me feel free & alive! And let’s not forget outdoor bbqs, picnics and drinks on decks - socialising in summer is way more fun ☀️🌴🌊🕺🏼🥂.

I just got back from an epic snorkel & it’s now time to hit up a winery with some friends. Yes please - more of this! I love my backyard so much. 🥰

New Years resolutions are a load of cr*p! Why?
1) They are set in the negative (ie. the things you want to quit, lose or stop).
2) They are not aligned with a bigger vision for your life.
3) They are often unmeasurable or lack the detail to help you actually succeed.

You all know I’m much more a fan of empowered goal setting instead.

Spend some time thinking about WHAT you want to achieve & WHO you want to be in 5-10 years.

Then set your goals working backwards from that inspiring place.

Align your goals with your values and what’s most important to you.

Balance your goals across many domains of your life - career, health & personal.
