With the long-enduring lockdowns last year, the number one thing I heard my clients say is that they whole-heartedly *loved* the slower pace of life that lockdown offered.

There was no rushing, no fomo, no exhaustive burnout. Just a sweet, slow, existence that felt easy & nurturing to the soul.

They wanted to maintain this more conscious, mindful, smell-the-roses type of lifestyle.

And yet, the moment lockdowns lifted they fell right back into their old habitual ways of being. 😩And that’s *so* frustrating to be back in a place you told yourself you’d never be again.

The solution?

BOUNDARY SETTING.

You can’t expect change in your life when you refuse to say no to the things clogging up your time, energy & resources.

“No” is the most powerful sentence you’ll ever say. No further explanation is required (even though it will be tempting to provide multiple reasons!). It may feel uncomfortable at first, but with practice it becomes easier.

Honour yourself.
Honour those boundaries.
And you’ll soon reap the benefits.

My number one value is F R E E D O M & I feel this season is abundant with it, which is why it’s my favourite time of the year. Good weather & longer days mean I can do what I like, when I like, and there’s a power & openness in that that excites me.

I’m SO grateful summer has decided to arrive (better late than never melbs 😉). Snorkelling, sailing, paddle boarding, ocean swimming - all my fav activities happen during this season. The things that make me feel free & alive! And let’s not forget outdoor bbqs, picnics and drinks on decks - socialising in summer is way more fun ☀️🌴🌊🕺🏼🥂.

I just got back from an epic snorkel & it’s now time to hit up a winery with some friends. Yes please - more of this! I love my backyard so much. 🥰

New Years resolutions are a load of cr*p! Why?
1) They are set in the negative (ie. the things you want to quit, lose or stop).
2) They are not aligned with a bigger vision for your life.
3) They are often unmeasurable or lack the detail to help you actually succeed.

You all know I’m much more a fan of empowered goal setting instead.

Spend some time thinking about WHAT you want to achieve & WHO you want to be in 5-10 years.

Then set your goals working backwards from that inspiring place.

Align your goals with your values and what’s most important to you.

Balance your goals across many domains of your life - career, health & personal.

Piper’s very first sleep-over with Aunty “Goolie” 🥰. Doses of animals and small children have been very welcome breaks from university study!

It’s been an extremely steep learning curve diving back into full time study after 16 years 😳, but I am loving the psychology content, and can’t wait to be able to offer even more support for my clients.

I have some uber exciting news to share 🥁. . 🥁. . I am going back to Uni! 😮 After 16yrs, I’m now embarking on post-graduate study in Psychology 🙌🏼.

I actually majored in Psychology when I completed my first degree and have always been drawn to it - particularity positive psychology (which is probably why I ended up as a Coach 😛).

It’s going to be a long road ahead, another four years of full time study - but knowing that I can then service the full spectrum of my clients mental health makes it all worthwhile.

You see Coaching works for people that are already fairly high functioning & want to take their life to the next level. But for those struggling (which COVID has been a *major* highlighter of) coaching needs to be combined with more therapeutic approaches.

I’m incredibly nervous about re-entering the land of academia as a “mature aged student” (particularly because I used to roll my eyes 🙄 at how studious they were! Haha) but I know that you’re never too old to learn & expand yourself.

I will still be Coaching of course, but will have limited capacity for 1:1 clients. I’ve been hanging to explore the wild-ness of the back beaches on the Peninsula since the 5km restrictions came into play.

So this week a friend and I packed our back packs, laced up our hiking boots and explored some of the stunning coastal trail in our backyard.

The fresh salty air, the rolling sand dunes, the crashing waves and intricate rock formations were all medicine for my soul.

To be among the wilderness away from houses, cars, roads, shops, technology and people was exactly what I needed after being cooped up in lockdown for way too long.

The stagnant energy of the “same-old, same-old” Groundhog Day existence we’ve had lately had taken a toll on me I didn’t even fully realise until I was finally out of it.

I left feeling so rejuvenated and grateful to experience the freedom I did.

I’m scheduling adventure hikes back into my weeks now that I’m allowed. It’s a non negotiable for my mental health.

What can you schedule back into your days and weeks that will benefit your life for the better?

Whether it’s a picnic with friends, a nice drive for a change of scenery, going to a different cafe for a take away cuppa or a long nature walk - make sure you give yourself some love in ways you haven’t been able to.

We will never take these simple things for granted in the future I am sure.

I had my first acupuncture session for a very looong time, and man it felt good! Lockdown has been incredibly tough at times and it felt good to give myself some love.

These treatments are part of my self care & health regime and I just love how holistic traditional Chinese medicine is.

I go for everything from gut health, skin conditions, stress, colds to muscular/skeletal pain or my period cycle. Always treating the root cause, not just the symptoms.

But the beast bit? Zoning out and laying on the table for half an hour with relaxing music while the needles do their thang. Honestly it is sooo relaxing.

How have you been coping?

Is your inner “frenemy” creeping out? I know mine has been. . . 🦖

The oxford dictionary describes a frenemy as: "a person with whom one is friendly despite a fundamental dislike or rivalry."

On the surface you may say, ‘sure I like myself. I'm fairly OK with the whole self love thing. My relationship with myself isn't *that* bad’ . . . but on the inside your inner critic is running rampant 😳.

Getting on an international flight seems so out of

Getting on an international flight seems so out of reach right now 😔. It’s hard to imagine a time when I can even leave my 5km radius little own explore far away foreign lands!

I miss having exciting adventures to look forward to. I miss adding stamps to my passport. I miss stepping off a plane and being immersed in foreign smells, sounds & climates. . I miss wandering down streets I’ve never seen before, seeing sites that take your breath away. Travel brings me into the moment & makes me be present to every moment I’m experiencing.

Hunting for awe. Is there anything better?

This pic was taken in South Africa a few years ago. I was roaming the plains in a safari jeep searching for “the big 5”.

Our volunteer trip with my amazing @kindlingfoundation charity team was really profound. The first time I’ve ever stepped foot on the African continent & it was immediately intoxicating.

I have never meet people with more heart in all my travels. They embody love & ooze it through every smile, dance, laugh, hug or song.

One day I will return. And I certainly will not be taking that freedom to travel for granted ever again. 🤞🏼✈️
