I’ve written before about the glorification of “busy” and how it’s not serving anyone (you can read my blog “You are not required to hustle” here.)  And at this time of year, I am gently reminded again of the importance of generating flow and ease in our lives.

How beautiful it is to  s l o w  the pace of life right down. This period for me after the hectic pace of December and Christmas is a time to re-connect, ground down, and take a deep breath. A beautiful pause to just BE. To stop focusing on the output, on what I’m doing or achieving, and just relax into the now.

For me, I’ve realised that my busyness comes from a lack of faith. A lack of trust that everything is happening and unfolding exactly as it should be. I’m a recovering “busy-holic”, and I still catch myself now filling every spare minute of my time out of habit, or trying to multi-task 4 things at once, or pushing and striving for goals even when it doesn’t feel right. These are all warning signs that I’m out of flow. That my faith and trust are waning.

We need to change our belief that in order to be productive we need to be busy. To allow the wisdom of our bodies to do what they do best. To believe that the universe and all of life is supporting our constant transformation. Life is weaving, regardless of what we are doing.

It’s so easy in our modern lives to get caught up in the fast pace of the world. We over-schedule our lives, we strive to be everything for everyone, we over-commit our time and energy causing ourselves stress and anxiety in order to follow through and ‘do what we said we would do’.

Most women I work with struggle to make themselves a priority and take time out for them. We seem to be a forgotten item on the to-do list.

It’s my mission to change that.

Because the moment you put yourself first, devote time and energy to YOU, be conscious of how you spend your time, and set boundaries around your energy – not only do you begin to feel fantastic, but it has positive flow on effects to those around you. It truly is a win/win scenario. There are no losers in the game of self love and self care.

We live in a system that says we are not enough and so we are constantly striving to be something other than what we are. A system that tells us that anything that is outside of me is valuable. But that is just not true.

But this isn’t easy. Tackling a lifetime of conditioning, limiting beliefs, and habits is no simple feat. It takes a clear conscious decision, courage and a real commitment to be that change for yourself. To put your foot down and finally say enough is enough! I’m sick of living like this and feeling this way. I now choose something different. The choice is yours.

It’s my everyday practice to soften. To release. To increase my level of faith and trust that what is meant for me will not pass me by.

This can be really hard some days! Coming from an old mindset of “hustling” and that if I want something then I have to go out there and make it happen – these subconscious beliefs rooted in my ego are powerful and very sneaky. Noticing them is where the empowerment happens, as it gives me the awareness of the pattern, and I can then choose a different path forward.

The moment we get in the way or try to micromanage the universe, we mess up the magnificent order of life. Nature has an innate intelligence that knows exactly what to do. You are part of nature. So you do to.

WAYS TO LISTEN TO YOUR INNER GUIDANCE:

  • Meditation
  • Journalling
  • Yoga (or any other mindful body/spirit practice like tai chi or chi gong)
  • Silence in nature
  • Energy work ie/ reiki, kinesiology or spiritual healing.
