crafting a life you want to come home to

I had such a great realisation last week.

You see, most times when I’m away exploring the world, I never want to come back home. I want to keep going to the next place, the next sight, the next experience. The allure of endless travel always had such a strong pull, one that up until now I always felt sad to leave behind.

But not this time. I was actually really excited to come home! This surprised me a little to be honest. And it’s probably got a hell of a lot to do with the fact that I feel like I actually have a “home” now for the first time.

I realised I have created and crafted a life that I freaking LOVE!

It’s a life that I wanted to return to, not run away from.

It’s taken time, dedication, and a lot of patience to get here. But I’m HERE! I feel like I have roots down, and I’m living out my values of freedom, connection and love. I love my community, my adorable fur ball Frankie, I’m by the ocean, and one of the biggest factors now is that I LOVE what I do!

I really missed my work – I missed being with my clients, I missed sharing the experience of coaching with them, I missed watching their growth and transformation. I missed writing. I missed sharing and contributing to others.

It was the first time in my whole life I actually missed my work, and oh my lord – what an incredible thing to realise. My gratitude for what I do went through the roof, and I have come home with fresh eyes and a bulging heart for everything I get to experience in this life I’ve created.

I actually don’t want for anything more, I am so happy where I’m at.

I will always be an adventurer at heart, and I also love “home”. I love having a place that’s mine, I love filling it with beautiful things, I love knowing my neighbours, and the local barista, and bumping into people down the street. I have a sense of community that I’ve never experience before, and boy is it special. I have a place that I belong, one that I enjoy returning home to.

And it’s these things that pull me back home when I’m done exploring foreign lands.

Here’s some questions for you to ponder:

  • So what would it take for you to craft a life you freakin LOVE?
  • What do you need to say a big “YES” to?
  • What do you need to say “NO” to?
  • What changes do you need to make?
  • What kind of life would actually excite you and make you come alive?

Dive around in these answers, see what comes up for you. . . they may just be the secret recipe for creating a life that you too want to come home to.

We travel because we need to. Because distance and difference are the secret tonic to creativity. When we get home, home is still the same, but something in our minds has changed, and that changes everything.

“Julia inspires me to be better than I am, and to live in true possibility. Through her coaching and unique ability to get me to think outside the box, I was able to write powerful goals, a passionate Vision, and determine what contribution I am to people and the world. I had some powerful self-realisations about what I do and don’t want for my life, and how to achieve this every single day. Julia takes the fear out of writing goals and brings fun to the process. Through Julia’s coaching I was able to let go of my past fear of not being perfect. I am now vulnerable, real, and go after what I really want – and not what I felt others wanted for me. I have a heart full of love. I am learning not to be scared of imperfection and embrace failing in order to grow and succeed.”

“Julia is the most genuine person I have ever met. The way in which she tackles goal coaching is a direct reflection of how she truly approaches life. She is a fierce believer in possibility; the way she sees life is beautiful. Julia is authentic, she takes time to truly connect and understand each person she coaches. She has a unique ability to push people to discover what it means for them to live their best life, not by being pushy, but by asking the right questions and connecting. Julia’s coaching strives to get you to recognize that your life can, or may already be, beautiful and full of the same possibility she sees in hers.”
