We’ve all got those people in our lives, be in an ex parter, an old friend, or a distant relative – that hold a special place in our heart. You know the ones; distance, time or history don’t seem to matter. Nothing can shatter your connection.
The bond you share is still strong. You think of them often, you see them in your minds eye, you reminisce about times you shared together.
They are a part of your world, even if you don’t see them anymore.
A friend of mine recently described this to me as a “soul tie”, and it made my heart smile. I imagined a little piece of ourselves being forever connected. Our souls recognise each other.
Soul ties is the idea that certain actions can connect you to a person and cause you to bond in a way that is not easily broken. Typically, soul ties are said to come from sex. It’s the physical act of giving yourself to another person that makes you vulnerable to such a connection.**
– Jazz Keyes
(**Side note: there’s a lot of religious significance placed on this concept out there, it’s used to shun sex outside of marriage by talking about “sexually transmitted demons” and the negative aspects of a soul tie. But I’m not a religious person in the traditional sense, and I like to think of soul ties in much broader terms. After all, it’s not just sex that binds souls together. Soul connections can form with many people, in many different ways.)
So HOW and WHY do we form soul ties?
- Is it because of your shared experiences?
- Is it because of the depth of your conversations?
- Is it the level of support you gave one another?
- Is it the common ground and values that you shared?
- Is it the intimacy and passion that was alive?
- Is it the timing, and where you were in your life when you met this person?
Sooo many questions to ponder. Ask yourself – “What is it that has bound me to my special soul ties?” It’s an interesting one to explore, either via journalling, talking it out with your bestie, or just day dreaming about it. Have you ever asked yourself WHY these ties are in place, and how they got there?
Who are your soul ties?
Why do we have such significant connection with some people, and other’s seem to be somewhat forgettable? What is that chemistry based on? It’s certainly not the length of time shared, as I for one have had people in my life for mere months that have had a far greater impact on me than others that have been there for years. So what is it then?
Why do our souls connect with some other souls like super glue?
My spiritual reader would tell me it’s a past life connection. Others would call it destiny, or fate. And part of me agrees with all of that, but part of me wants more clarity. I want to know more! How? Why? When? I find this topic fascinating, can you tell?
Let’s explore this together, I’d love you to share with me in the comments below:
Q/ What do you think has formed your soul tie?
Q/ What role does that soul tie now play in your life?
Soul connections are eternal. Every other relationship we have, no matter how sweet, kind, intimate or apparently meaningful, will in the end be revealed to be only temporary.
