breaking away from the herd

So after many years dreaming about it, crafting my vision, honing into my unique passions and strengths – I have finally done it. I have quit my day-job and thrown myself head first into this business.

I’m quite shocking when it comes to self recognition, and celebrating my goals when I achieve them. I’m always so quick to rush onto the next thing on the to-do list. Oh the perils of ‘busy-ness’! So I’m just going to   p a u s e   for a second here . . . and sit in that for a moment. . .

Wow, I actually did it.

I’m standing firm in my own power, and chasing my dreams with gusto.

Was it easy? #hellno.

Did it happen effortlessly? Not in the slightest.

Was I sure of what I was doing? Yes. Beyond a shadow of a doubt.

See the thing is, once you finally know what you’ve been put on this earth to do – you kinda then have to go and DO IT! You can’t un-learn that truth, or pretend like it doesn’t really matter. It has a hold on you, at a deep soul level, and it won’t settle until you go and DO that thing you are supposed to do!

But humans are a herd animal, we naturally follow.

“If you can resist the pull of the herd, success will come much easier and be more satisfying. Be like a child and act in ways that are true to yourself.”

– Anthony Gunn

As scary and daunting as this process has been, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m learning to trust myself and this process more and more every day. Some days are joyous and full of flow. Others I feel like I’m pushing sh*t uphill – and I’m learning to ride these waves. Because it’s never going to be smooth sailing doing your own thing.

It’s certainly the road less travelled; one without sign posts, or street lamps. There can be a big pot hole hiding in the dark, and hell, sometimes there is no road at all! But I certainly am finding this journey more fulfilling and rewarding than the one I was on before – following the herd.

So follow with caution my friends. Really ask yourself – is this right for ME?

Be yourself.

Never settle until you find YOUR THING.

Because you are magnificent, and there is a reason you were put here on this earth. I believe we all have a personal responsibility to find out what that thing IS.

“Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.”

– Mark Twain

And another thing – once you find your thing – it doesn’t necessarily have to be your career. You don’t have to earn money from it. You don’t have to throw in your day job. But if you want to, and it feels friggin amazing – then go for it!

Know that you are completely deserving, and it’s fully possible.

And don’t give a dam about what anybody else says.

“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.”

Dr. Seuss

“Julia has a true gift.  Her coaching was really great. It helped me to re-focus. I’ve managed to shift into a better flow for my life. I have created a balance between “work” and life. I have experienced the benefit of her coaching first hand and recommend it to anyone that needs guidance and help in this way.”

Kate Christensen

“I have taught coaching as an academic University teacher – Julia goes beyond anything in my textbook. It is the best money I ever spent. Her coaching is amazing, she is a wonderful active listener. There have been times when I have challenged Julia on how to deal with unexpected non-dreamed of situations that come up. This is where she excels. She knows how to deal with my future dreams and my current reality. I cannot recommend Julia enough. I’ll also say – I did the work. I never expected Julia to be a magic wand. I expected her to be a coach. She has been coach extraordinaire.”
